Name: Aino Jonckhier
Age, Birthday: 18, February 6th
Gender: Male
*Appearance: Aino is tall and pale; he stands at 183cm (about 6'0") and weighs 68kg (150lbs), most of which is muscle mass. He has has long, straight light green hair that tumbles down to his mid back in layers (he usually keeps it in a loose ponytail so that it doesn't get in the way) with fringe that sweeps down into his eyes. Said eyes are narrow with bright wine-red irises. Due to his royal lineage, Aino never dresses sloppily; sure he likes loose clothing, but his clothes are almost always made of soft and/or expensive fabrics. More often than not, one can see him wearing his pristine white and red military uniform with golden epaulettes and knee-high leather boots. He always has his golden pocket watch on him. He also wears jewels under his left eye for reasons he doesn't want to disclose.
*History: Aurelia Jonckhier, Aino's mother, was born into a purely Wind Elemental family of the High Noble class; this, coupled with her stunning beauty, is the probably reason why she was chosen as one of the King's six harem wives. Aurelia got pregnant with Aino during her time as the King's favourite wife (a time that spanned about eleven years), making him the second in line for the throne. Aino was raised in the harem quarters of the palace, and was tutored exclusively in Military History, grammar, multiple foreign languages, sciences and medicine, maths, swordsmanship... You name it, he learned it within the first years of his life. The studies were rigorously difficult and the pressure was hard for such a young child to deal with; he rarely got to see his mother and he only ever saw his father three times through it all. And of course, along with the title of second heir to the throne comes the dangers of assassination attempts. He had to sense poisons and dodge knives far more times than he could count.
However, somehow he pulled through it. Finally, at the age of ten he was moved from the palace in Aeterno to a small private academy in Vintes.
In his mother's homeland, he and his relatives celebrated his coming-of-age. On the morning of his thirteenth birthday, he set out to find a sprite in the mountains with whom he could connect and refine his magick. Out there, in the windy peaks of the mountain range, he met Fermata, who immediately imprinted on him. When he went back to his house in Vintes with the little butterfly sprite, he was immediately shipped off to Caerul, where he would later attend Reiga Academy and fly through the ranks.
Relatives: His mother, Aurelia Jonckhier (age 41); his father, the King; and about 16 younger half siblings and one older half brother.
*Personality: Aino is, due to his upbringing, a very proper fellow. He has a mild case of OCD which flares up at the most random of times, making him a perfectionist on some things and completely disinterested in others. He doesn't mind it, though; as far as he's concerned, the OCD pushes him to work at the best of his ability, which is essential for someone of his stature with his occupation. He has very good etiquette, and - while he might not mention it - any sign of disrespect or bad manners annoys him. He always maintains good posture, to the point where slouching hurts his back instead of making him relaxed.
Aino has always been an inquisitive person, and ever since he learnt how to read, he could be found in the library - be it the Royal Athenaeum, Reiga Academy's archives, or the small private library in his mansion in Vintes - surrounded by books on the most obscure subjects: foreign languages and culture, history and government, astronomy and astrology, books on animals and magical beasts found across the continent. He was taken by nonfiction from the start of his life, so later on he never really enjoyed fantasy novels. He enjoys learning, but now he would rather learn through first-hand experience rather than holing himself up in a dark room (though he still likes reading as a pastime).
Aino, having grown up around intelligent adults rather than other kids, is far more comfortable in the presence of his elders. He has this way with adults, so much so that he never really got along with anyone his age until he entered Reiga Academy. He grew out of that social ineptness somewhat, but he still retains a kind of detachment from his peers at his current age of eighteen. It's part of the reason why he wanted so desperately to go out and see the world before finishing his studies in the Academy; he's the type who seeks to utterly annihilate the flaws in his personality and/or perception of the world before it's too late. Even with his social awkwardness, though, he has his charismatic moments.
Despite his occupation and tactical genius that got him the job, Aino's only real passion for anything warlike is his sword fighting. He enjoys sparring, but he doesn't think he could actually go in for the kill - or maybe he could; he's never had to, so how would he know? (The idea of killing someone never really meant much to him, but that apathy is exactly why it scares him; shouldn't he
not want to kill someone? It's not that he
wants to kill people either, but don't most humans dislike the idea of taking another person's life?) He has a passion for music, and - though he'd never tell anyone - he'd much rather go back to Vintes and spend his time playing his violin in the mountains where nobody would find him than continue being a pawn in his father's little war game. But, of course, his sense of duty keeps him playing along. He's rather dedicated in that sense.
Element: Wind
Weapon of choice: His long sword. Although it's made for the opposite, he keeps it on the right side of his body due to his left-handedness.
Occupation: He's the General in Arms of the Vintes Aero Force ((basically, this is the equivalent of a general in the USAF - except the Aero Force in Loputon consists exclusively of Wind Elementals, because they're the only ones who can fly using their powers.))
Side: King. No matter how much he wants to sometimes, he could never betray his father.
Likes: He enjoys stargazing; he could name every constellation and planet in the sky, and when asked, he could pinpoint where the moon Merke is on a night of Lys' new moon. He loves swordplay and channelling his magic through his sword, because the results are always interesting to look at. He enjoys silence and the sound a tuned violin makes, and he likes the pure, unadulterated singing voices of the children in the chamber choruses that performed in the palace when he was younger.
Dislikes: He hates loud or unnecessary noises just about as much as he dislikes loud and obnoxious people. Being from a northern city, he doesn't much fancy the heat. He doesn't exactly hate his job, but he doesn't like it much either. He has a fear of small confined spaces, and he hates when he has nothing to do (because let's face it, he's a busybody). He doesn't like being separated from his sprite; it unnerves him. Because of his childhood, he's a bit prejudiced against the Magickless.
Habits/Quirks: He has the habit of tapping his chin when he's thinking; he used to bite his nails, but he grew out of that. He also tends to fiddle with his pocket watch when he's nervous, and he always checks the time.
Sexual Orientation: Bi-romantic, asexual.
